7.31.02
A few days prior, Plan B cancelled for August 7. We couldn't get the generator to work, so I used my brother's jeep to bring it to our mechanic, but left my wallet inside my car rendering me paranoid of the fifteen cop cars which paraded Kearny because of street repairs and ill-talented drivers which subsequently delayed my travel experience severely. When we got it back from the mechanic, it ran...for 3 minutes. We finally got it working and everything went just fine. What's that over there...a cop car...oh...just passing by...whew. All the bands were excellent.

7.24.02
The band originally scheduled for this date, Plan B, cancelled so we rescheduled Jonah for that night instead of August 7. The forecast predicted rain [which it did not], and so we were concerned about our equipment since we did not have a tent. Our generator wouldn't work, so we had to rent one hours before we set up. The drummer from Clear Blue almost cancelled their appearance due to a possible road trip to Maryland which he took the next morning. So we prayed and then the band showed up just as the owner of the VFW property next door to our rented American Legion property told us that we were set up on his lot. He showed us where the property line for American Legion ended and we had crossed it by about fifteen feet. So, all of the equipment that we had just finished setting up was relocated about fifty feet to the left. End of the night: no cops, no complaints...which is good news considering that while we were setting up, one neighbor asked us if our music would be annoying. The people from American Legion were really kind and helpful.

Since our barring from Riverbank Park, we sought to acquire our original prospective location: the grounds between American Legion and VFW on Belgrove Drive across from the baseball field. We had contacted the VFW back in June and they declined due to their expressed concerns with loud music and getting sued. However, the great people from the American Legion thought it was a good idea, and wanted to work with us, however, we didn't hear back from them until Tuesday [the day before] when they told us that every night we submitted would work except for this one. So we had to cancel the show. They were nice enough to let us put a sign out in front of their lot saying that the show was canned. Not such a bad ending considering we hadn't finalized Crownd as the second band for that night until three days prior.

Our very first after glow show. The first cop responded to a few of the neighbor's complaints due to the volume and verified our permit. The second cop told us to lower down or pack up due to 6 total phone calls to the KPD. Third cop reminded us of the stipulation in our permit which reads: good for one half hour after sunset, so we had to cut the last song off of Chosenex's set and end the show precisely at 9. The permit was hard enough to get and that location was not our original choice, however, we needed a place and we got the permit...anyway, Stewart's is right across the street so we thought it might be a decent location [if, perhaps, the streets weren't detoured by the heavy construction being conducted on the bridge next to Stewart's]. Pretty good turnout considering it rained the night we handed out flyers, and our advertising scheme was not able to be launched to it's fullest since as of the Friday before, we hadn't been able to confirm any location for this event and even considered playing on the roof of COHIC. We're never going back to that park.
